If you haven't already noticed HBO is doing an awesome job of original programming.
Not that that should be such a hard concept, but since the Networks have taken the more is better approach to programming - sadly original programming is a big and difficult concept for TV executives.

Shows like OZ, The Sopranos and my favorite - Sex in the City are all about to start new episodes.

If you aren't familiar with television strategy, just know this - it's brilliant.

See for Broadcast Neworks like ABC, shows and executives live & die by ratings which are calculated during sweeps which are always in February, May, July and November. Think back - that's when all the new episodes and good movies are on. Well with a little common sense HBO decide to run their best shows when there is little if any competition for viewers like you and me. Which is now.

If you missed the original season of Sex in the City you can get it through Amazon, they have the entire first season, on VHS and DVD. Brush up, the new season starts in a few weeks!

Hey it's great to be back. I was going through blogger withdrawls!
You may have noticed we've been down for a while now. The best way to describe it is: technical difficulties.

I've been forced to be pretty mellow for the past few days. See I'm totally sun burned. Look like a giant lobster after spending way too much time on Tina's new mantaray floaty at the lake.

It was a way too full weekend.
Professional Retreat in Jefferson

LSAT Class

Then after driving to Jefferson and back, I came home and picked Gary up only to turn around and drive to Mabank or Gun Barrell City. Can you believe there is really a town named that?

I just needed some time with no agenda - I can't believe that actually came out of my mouth! I've always had a lot going on, maybe I just see this stuff as more important. Whatever it is it seems to be more stressful.

I found it!

What I've been doing wrong for the last 29 years.

"You're doing something foolish. You're getting good at something you don't like, and if you get good at something you don't like, people are going to pay you to do it, then you have to do it all day long." Quote extracted from - The Secret of Your Success by Steven Tomlinson

Steve's dad is exactly right. We, meaning me, do things because people tell us we are good at it - then we continue to do them to either one please those people or two make money.

We, again meaning me, rarely stop to think about if we like doing what people are paying or rewarding us for. Usually the only time I think about that is when I'm so fed up I'm about to burst.

I am so creeped out!

When I got out of the shower this morning I heard this scratching sound. I thought the dogs were into something until I remembered that I had let the last one out about a half hour earlier. So I cautiously started listening around the house to see where the noise was coming from. The ceiling in my bedroom. The very room I had to be in in order to get ready to go to work!

Whatever is up there is trying to dig its way out into my bedroom. At first I thought maybe it's a mouse. We caught one in the garage a few weeks ago. With my towel wrapped tightly around me, incase I would have to flee, I listened closely. If it's a mouse - it's the biggest mouse in the history of Texas. And you know everything is big in Texas!

I called Gary at work, who of course was "in surgery". You know that always sucks. What are you suppose to say - "this thing crawling around in the attic is much more important than that guy in OR with his body fileted open."

We'll that's how I felt, but I went to plan 2 - Tina. Who of course wasn't much help but did provide me a crucial link to the outside world if and when the creature escaped from the attic and attacked me.

Her advice: get dressed as fast as you can and get the hell out of there!

I concurred. Through my hair up in a clippy, skipped the pantyhose and ran to my car.

I'm not going home until the creature is identified and captured. Luckily, Gary's macho ego can't fail to address issues like this one. And he gets home several hours before me.

One of my friends from when I worked in television in New Mexico just got a wonderful job with a station in Miami. I'm so excited for her!

It takes amazing stamina to endure all the crap you have to put up with in television news to last long enough to make it to a major market like Miami. For Sharron, it's been about 6 years. The time we spent working together in New Mexico seems like a life time and was really just a few years. I guess it's the long hours and multiple egos that make the experience so intense.

I went into journalism intregued by the action and ability to change someone's life - I left not needing that much drama in my life. But you know the grass is always greener on the other side. When I was a reporter, I thought of what I was missing with all of my friends working at Internet start-ups and now I longingly remember my time as a journalist, disenchanted with my life at an Internet start-up.

It's a harsh reality to know you can't have it all - at the same time.

I'm part of several women's professional organizations and they keep me connected to the outside world. This is information I recieved from a chapter president about a seminar that the U.S. Department of Labor's Women's Bureau and Employment Standards Administration - Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs is doing here in Dallas:

More than 35 years after passage of The Equal Pay Act women still get paid about 76 cents to every dollar earned by a man. In real terms, this means that women will have to work 17 extra weeks in 2000 to earn what men earned in 1999 alone.

The gap is greater for Black and Hispanic women, 64 cents and 55 cents, respectively. Men outnumber women by more than 2 to1 in many high tech occupations, occupations that pay about 80% above the average jobs.

Can you believe having a penis, regardless of size, still equals a better job and more money? It's amazing!

If you are interested in attending the seminar let me know and I'll forward the info to you.

I ran that virus scan and realized that I have 28,551 files on my computer. Realize I've only been here since Sept. 99.

How can I accumulate so much stuff in such a short period of time?

Not only is there too much stuff on the Internet, there is too much stuff in my life.

Maybe it's catching!

I just did this on my computer at work - so if you are fearful of the Love Bug then try this quick fix. It's free!

This morning on the news they said that there are approximately 50,000 computer viruses active right now. If you want to learn more about them you can go to several of the virus software companies. The one I used is pretty straight forward and looks up to date.

But I don't understand what the hackers get from doing this. Money?? Fame?? Jail time??

The only positive thing I can see is a new type of law! If you are interested, this is another cool Internet law site.

You know it's been very clear that this is the time for Taurus with the alignment in our sign. Actually yesterday was the beginning of the new cycle with the new moon and all. But anyway I've been searching for what is it that will change my life.
Tina has started her new company during this period, my friend Jeremy - not our Jeremy, another one - has left a very stifling job, some Taurus friends have begun new relationships, but me nothing.

Have I been deliquent in not forcing a change?
Should I throw Gary out and find a new boyfriend?
Should I be out there doing something?
Maybe I should move to Ireland.
Is the boat filled with my life potential pulling out of port while I'm asleep on the dock?

The answer is, at least for the moment, that I don't know! And I hate should'a, could'a, would'a kind of people.
I know that I don't want to throw Gary out. However Ireland would be nice.
I know that I'm studing for the LSAT. Perhaps this alignment will assist me on that.
Since today is the day to ask, I'd like a 170, please.
It's the only thing that makes sense. But it's next to impossible to explain my furstration at the length of the process. I want action! And now!
Unfortunately in the big picture - my time on Earth is merely a blink of HP Goddess' eye.

Happy alignment!
Today is a day of hightened spirtuality. The universe is supporting you.
But as our psychic from Ruidoso said best, "You must make a decision before the universe can support you."
So move forward with a task or event that you would like some help with today. Change your life. Now is the time.

Oh, before you do that, check this out:
I was reading this article about these metal object dropping from the sky this week in South Africa. Turns out it's space trash put up by NASA.

Get this - if you are hit by space trash left by the Americans, like the huge metal balls in South Africa, then they will compensate you. I guess that means if you survive being hit?

I've been looking at the law school's I think I can get into and you know I back to the same question I had when I graduated from college.

How do you decide where you want to live?

There are so many beautiful places in the world. I really like the that would be a plus. But I spent the majority of my life in the desert so I know its beauty as well.Too many options!
You know when you live in Dallas, it's easy to decide where because it's got to be:
a safe neighborhood
that you can afford
that isn't too far from your friends
But when you take a big leap - it's a little different. I swear this question will haunt me the rest of my life!

You may have noticed Jeremy has again redesigned his journal.
I like it, but he definately has too much time on his hands. I always like his designs but maybe it's because I feel strongly that creativity should be rewarded. Don't know?

I understand Tina's company has a new name and new digs. I'm so thrilled for them! With the Internet everyone can make money - it's a beautiful thing.
Haven't got a chance to see the new office yet. But Jeremy has a few photos in his journal. Check it out!

Do you feel it?

The chaos.

It's begun to happen.

It's the planets aligning.

Ok - they won't actually align until Friday, but weird things are happening. For me it started on Thursday.
My work environment is getting wierder my the minute. If fact I spent most of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday working straight through on a project.
We've had several people quit out of the blue.
Gary screwed up a biology test - which never happens.
Rommel has learned how to climb the fence and fight back at the kids who throw rocks at him.
Few people I know, except Tina, believe in the effects of the alignment or astrology for that matter. Although they do admit things are getting wierd.
One of my co-workers asked me today if I thought the world was going to come to an end. Please!
I explained that that was ridiculous. For me as a Taurus being greatly affected by this cosmic event means that it is important for me to stay grounded during this period. I can create great chaos in my life all by myself, thank you!
But now it is important for me to lay low and not interfere with the universe.
