I was checking out some government Websites for work today and came across something cool. Quick ways to find out if someone owes you money.

I know you always hear about these people who found out about some company owed them millions - we'll it's not millions but I found an insurance company that owes my Dad $28. The last address they have him listed at was just before or about the time my sister was born so that was late 80's.

And then I still have to confirm, but I think I found a company that owes Gary's mom money too.

All of the sites are free to check, most of them are run by state governments:
MISSING MONEY a collaborative site for states to pool their unclaimed money/property databases
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY ADMINISTRATORS
OHIO DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE obviously a gov't site
TEXAS COMPTROLLER OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS

Good Luck!

Ok - let's look at George Jr.'s recent actions in the Gulf. Now remember he's been in office less than a month and Cinton has managed to keep the spot light on himself.

-War's boost ratings
-Decrease in a supply of oil from Iraq will force the issue of off shore drilling in the US (and Chaney headed up which engery service company for how many years??)
-War's are great for boosting the economy out of a slump
-Haven't we seen this exact cast of characters in this exact same play - about 10 years ago??
Oh, no that was George Sr.

I'm so tired, I think I forgot how to sleep.
Think that's a viable workman's comp claim??

Ok - Apparently Ashcroft is in. But we still have opportunities to tell our senator's that we will not vote for them since they chose to vote for a man who does not believe in our current laws supporting women, gays or minorities. Here is who voted for Ashcroft:

Orrin Hatch, R-UT - Chair
Strom Thurmond, R-SC
Chuck Grassley, R-IA
Arlen Specter, R-PA
Jon Kyl, R-AZ
Mike DeWine, R-OH
Jeff Sessions, R-AL
Mitch McConnell, R-KY
Sam Brownback, R-KS
Russell Feingold, D-WI

If one of your senators voted for Ashcroft, please call them and express your opinion of their decision to do so. All of the numbers you'll need to do so are listed below

My best friend from college wrote a very nice letter to her senator. I'm going to share it with you because I think it quite approperiate and what we should be doing on a regular basis:

Dear Senator Hutchison,

I don't think many Americans agree with you. Especially women. Consider your actions carefully as we are voting constituents and if you vote for man, whose record against civil rights, women's rights, the environment and the separation of church and state, it may affect and indeed I hope it does affect your ability to get re-elected.

I hope you don't wake up one day and realize that just because he is taking away a right you don't much care for or use, that you don't seriously consider it fair and just that he can dictate our rights. Just because George Bush is a Texan, or that he is Republican or even that he is the President, it doesn't give him the right to make poor choices that affect us as voting women. Your job is to oversee what he does and because he won't always make the right or fair or even educated choice, you are going to get to teach him. You are the elder statesman. Furthermore, I was not aware that you were for the overturn of Roe v. Wade. I think you should make that clear in all future campaign documents as well as on your website. Declare if proudly, "Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is pro-life and votes that way".

My mother was your college roommate and proudly has your picture hung in their house. She is one of your supporters and I wish I could say the same.

You just lost my vote. Your response as well as this letter is being forwarded to all of my voting female friends as well. I will also be posting this on my website.

Sincerely,
Tina Winslow

I think many of our representative forget that they are there - in Wahsington DC to REPRESENT us. Not to push their own political beliefs. When is the last time your congressional representative or senator asked you what you though about an issue...any issue??
